A prayer for Goa Damão and Diu

With sincere desire to be and feel the togetherness with the Damanenses all over the world, celebrating WORLD DAMÃO DAY, a mass was offered by Oscar Noruega and family this evening, the 20th of August 2008 at the Sé Cathedral Macau, for the people of Goa, Damão and Diu.

Hope Damão can acheive all round development and prosperity and grow in love, peace, unity and happiness forever.

All Damanenses sang, as the celebrations commemorating the 400 years of the Church of Our Lady of Remedios curtain dropped

As the curtain of the year long celebrations commemorating the 400 years of the Church of Our Lady of Remedios dropped, Bishop Godfrey de Rosario gave his blessings to the people of Damão at the end of a mass on 30th of December 2007, at the open air altar of Christ the King.

After the high mass, culminating the celebrations, at the foot of Christ the King, all Damanenses sang,
Jangli mãe...... Oh Mãe quem homme aquel é..... Bicho de palmeira......., Raminha raminha........, Parque te churá velh..... ,
Ó Divan de Mogará,
Rio sandalcalo and Barra de Damão, with the guitarist Bosco Machado who played on the spur of the moment.

And even the young ones from Damaõ showed how their blood is still filled with and linked to the portuguese folklore.

A thrilling theatrical act in our Damão Portugues was wonderfully enacted by our Damão folks to the laughter and amazement of hundreds present. Indeed remarkable.
The script and the voice of the ‘sobrinho’ is a fine piece of art from Francisco Machado (Babushinho), and the voice of the three ‘Titi’ was from Odette Remedios Machado, Noemia Machado da Costa and Lina (Fifi) Mendonça e Machado´, who also played the wife.
The three Titi’s were Antonio Luis -Titi Goonglu, Fremiot Mendonça - Titi Donglu, João - Titi Maru and the man who stole the show was the ´sobrinho´ António Jesus.
CONGRATALUTIONS!!!!! to the cast, voice, singers, writer and producer.

Despedida no Casamento

Time to say Adeus!

The Lance and wedding dance

The Lancé and dance our great grandfathers enjoyed. As Gabriel Guedes reminds us “ Let's preserve this and not let this die.

Wedding of the old times

Damão still remembers and this is a playback of the a wedding of the olden times, where they used to dance the Lancé instead of the march. This sounds good the way Gabriel Guedes says it. !!
